Excelsys Revolutionary New 600W Fanless Power Supply takes centre stage at Electronica 2016

The revolutionary CoolX600, convection-cooled modular power supply platform from Excelsys Technologies, will be the centrepiece of the market leading range of user configurable power supplies on display at Electronica this year.

The CoolX600 delivers an incredible 600W, without fan assisted cooling, from a very compact 8.5 x 4.5 x 1U package. The only fanless modular power supply on the market, the CoolX600 is completely silent in operation, produces no vibration and offers >25% reliability Increase over fan cooled alternatives.

Excelsys’s innovative patented modular resonant technology offers system designers best in class efficiency and reliability in addition to the most comprehensive feature set and specifications available. An industry leading 5 year warranty ensures quality, reliability and the lowest total cost of ownership.

Key features and options include 600W output with natural convection cooling, no fan/airflow required. This results in higher system reliability, with typically 25% longer lifetime than competitors. In addition, the CoolX600 leads the market with conversion efficiencies of up to 94%.  CoolX600 provides higher input surge protection of 4KV Line to PE for operation in harsh environments, reverse energy protection without the use of external blocking diodes as well as safety certified operation at altitudes of up to 5000m. An incredible 24W, medically isolated, auxiliary supply is available as a standard feature, offering effectively another output for system intelligence, control, displays etc. With optional Digital Communications available the CoolX600 provides the most flexible, highest specification modular power supply on the market.

The CX06S is available with full safety certifications to IEC60950 2nd edition for industrial applications whereas the CX06M carries IEC60601-1 3rd edition & IEC60601-1-2 4th edition (EMC) for medical applications. Stand-out medical features include BF rating (Body Floating), dual fusing, 2 x MOPP, <300uA leakage current. Other features include 4KV input surge immunity and the ability to withstand input voltages of up to 300VAC making it ideal for use in remote locations and those subject to input voltage disturbances.

The CoolX600 can be populated with up to 4 CoolMods, providing up to 4 isolated DC outputs ranging from 2.5V to 58.0V. The CoolX Platform offers maximum flexibility with analogue and digital control. In addition, outputs can be configured to the required set point voltages and connected in parallel/series for higher output current/voltages. CoolPacs can be paralleled for higher power and N+1 Redundancy applications. The CoolX platform is completely user-field-configurable so customers can configure and reconfigure without voiding warranty or affecting safety. Mounting options include base, side and DIN Rail alternatives.

Dermot Flynn, Sales Director of Excelsys Technologies, comments, “We are very pleased to be able to use Electronica to show the global electronics community our latest milestone in cutting-edge power supply design. We were the originators of compact, user configurable power supplies and we have once more moved ahead of the competition with the new 600 watt CoolX600. This revolutionary design raises the bar by designing out forced air cooling and, at a stroke, increasing reliability while eliminating noise. These market leading features make CoolX600 the ideal solution for medical, industrial and defence electronics markets”.

Typical applications include clinical diagnostic equipment, medical lasers, dialysis equipment, radiological imaging, surgical robotics and clinical chemistry. Industrial applications included test and measurement, industrial machines, automation equipment, printing, telecommunications and audio equipment. With a feature set designed for high reliability harsh environment electronics, other application includes naval and ground based radar, communications, test and measurement.

CoolX600 products have the following safety agency certifications; Medical; EN60601 3rd Edition and 4th Edition compliance, 2 MOPP, Dual Fused and BF rating. For industrial applications; EN60950, EN62386-1, ISO9000, SEMI F47 and for Defence and Aerospace; MIL810G and MIL461 certified and CE101/102.

Other products on display at Electronica will include the UltiMod and Xgen user configurable modular power supplies for use in high technology applications in the medical, industrial, and military sectors  and which also offer 5 year warranty.
