Micrium Announces Support for Atmel |SMART ARM Cortex M7-based MCUs

 µC/OS-III ported to Atmel | SMART SAM V71, V70, E70 and S70 ARM Cortex M7-based microcontrollers

  • Project integrates multiple libraries for MCU peripheral devices
  • Supports the Atmel SAM V71 Xplained Ultra Evaluation Kit to accelerate project designs

Weston, FLDecember 16, 2015  Micrium, the premier RTOS provider for embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced commercial real-time operating system (RTOS) support for the Atmel® | SMART ARM® Cortex® M7-based SAM V71/V70/E70 and S70 microcontrollers (MCUs).

“The industry brings a number of performance and secure communication requirements to the table for embedded systems that benefit significantly from using a proven, commercial RTOS kernel and middleware,” said Jean Labrosse, CEO of Micrium. “µC/OS-III is proven in applications where reliability and security are paramount, as well as having a long track-record of performance in ARM-based devices. This new project makes it easy for designers to get our kernel up and running on Atmel’s powerful SMART MCU platform.”

Micrium’s µC/OS-III® RTOS kernel runs on Atmel’s ARM Cortex M7-based MCUs and supports the SAM V71 Xplained Ultra Evaluation Kit, ATSAMV71-XULT, featuring the ATSAMV71Q21 MCU. It also integrates several Atmel-supplied libraries for various MCU peripheral devices such as ADC, Embedded Flash Controller and SPI bus to further facilitate evaluating and prototyping with Micrium on the platform.

“Availability of Micrium’s µC/OS-III further strengthens the ecosystem for our Atmel | SMART ARM Cortex M7-based MCUs,” said Jacko Wilbrink, Atmel’s senior marketing director. “µC/OS-III’s ability to support features like high-speed connectivity and high performance on-chip memory makes it a natural fit for this platform.”
