STMicroelectronics Introduces World’s First Integrated EMI Filter for Automotive Ethernet Connectivity

Geneva, November 25, 2015 – STMicroelectronics’ EMIF02-01OABRY is a highly integrated solution designed to suppress EMI[1] noise in automotive applications employing BroadR-Reach®[2] interfaces. This EMI-suppressing low-pass filter includes 15kV ISO 10605 surge protection and is AEC-Q101 qualified.

Till now, designers have used discrete components to design EMI filters that are compatible with the BroadR-Reach specification. Because there may be a large dispersion between components, these discrete networks’ performance must be fine- tuned at significant time and cost.

The EMIF02-01OABRY solves this issue by providing an already application-validated integrated solution, making the end applications smaller and faster to design. Within the Automotive temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, the EMI filter attenuation profile is fully compliant with BroadR-Reach requirements, with a return loss of -20dB at 60MHz and component matching of 1% between line 1 and 2.

Other key technical features include:

  • Compliant with the IEC 61000-4-2, ISO 10605, and ISO 7637-3 automotive standards;
  • Compact 3x3mm² wettable-flank QFN package, facilitating optical inspection of the solder joints.

Samples of the EMIF02-01OABRY are available now at a price of US$0.48 in quantities of 1000 units.

2 BroadR-Reach® is an automotive Ethernet standard defined by the OPEN Alliance (www.opensig.org) that allows multiple in-vehicle applications such as Advanced Driver Assistance and infotainment systems to access information simultaneously over a single unshielded twisted pair cable, reducing cabling cost and weight as cars become ever more connected. BroadR-Reach is a registered trademark of Broadcom Corporation.

Quickly and accurately identify inter-domain leakage issues in IC designs

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Power domain leakage is a major IC reliability issue, often missed by traditional tools. This white paper describes challenges of identifying leakage, types of false results, and presents Siemens EDA’s Insight Analyzer. The tool proactively finds true leakage paths, filters out false positives, and helps circuit designers quickly fix risks—enabling more robust, reliable chip designs. With detailed, context-aware analysis, designers save time and improve silicon quality.
