Fairchild’s SPM 55 Series Smart Power Module Wins China’s Prestigious Top-10 Power Products Award

HONG KONG – September 24, 2015  Fairchild (NASDAQ: FCS), a leading global supplier of high-performance semiconductor solutions, is pleased to announce that its SPM® Smart Power Module technology is being recognized by Electronics Products China (EPC) and 21IC in their 13th annual Top-10 Power Product Award.

In a ceremony hosted by the two publications, the award went to the FNB51560TD1, one of the modules in the Fairchild Motion SPM® 55 Series which are optimized to provide a fully-featured, high-performance inverter output stage for AC Induction, PMSM and BLDC motors.

The editors at EPC and 21IC made the initial selection of candidate products, and the final judging and determination of the Top-10 products was by a panel of industry experts.

Winning products had to comply with three criteria:

  • A significant advancement in a technology or its application
  • Innovative design
  • A substantial achievement in price-performance

Motion SPM 55 Series modules integrate Fairchild’s industry-leading IGBTs with their gate drive technology for minimizing EMI and losses, while also providing multiple on-module protection features, including under-voltage lockouts, an inter-lock function, over-current shutdown, thermal monitoring of the drive IC, and fault reporting.

The high-speed HVIC requires only a single supply voltage and translates the incoming logic-level gate inputs to the high-voltage, high-current drive signals required to properly drive the module’s robust short-circuit-rated IGBTs. Separate negative IGBT terminals are available for each phase to support the widest variety of control algorithms.

“We are pleased and honored to again be a Top-10 Power Award winner,” said Andy Lai, VP Greater China Sales & Applications, Fairchild Semiconductor. “We see this award as an endorsement by the industry of theFNB51560TD1 module’s high efficiency, versatility and robustness, and of Fairchild’s role in advancing state-of-the-art power modules and motor electronics.”

The Top-10 Power Awards were presented at a ceremony in Beijing on 24 September, 2015, at the 2015 14th Power Technology Conference.
