Frontier Silicon announces Minuet streaming module with Google Cast for audio devices

Frontier Silicon will showcase its new Minuet connected audio module at IFA, featuring Google Cast technology for audio devices.

This module is the product of collaboration between Google, Marvell Technology and Frontier and will address the fast growing market for connected Wi-Fi home speakers and audio systems.

Minuet with Google Cast built-in offers:

  • access to a wide and growing range of Cast-enabled audio services from around the world
  • Frontier’s leading audio synchronisation and multi-room ecosystem powered by UNDOK
  • Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth audio and wired audio inputs

Minuet is powered by a dual core 1.3GHz processor and state-of-the-art 802.11ac and Bluetooth™ Smart wireless technology from Marvell. This is a continuation of Frontier’s partnership with Marvell, which dates to launch of the successful Venice Wi-Fi module series in 2009.

The module includes a variety of interfaces to support audio accessories and next generation sensor technologies for future smart home applications.

In order to help manufacturers reduce time to market, Frontier offers a full range of services designed to accelerate the development process.  These include a customisable embedded SDK, remote control apps and APIs, fully qualified reference designs, development and manufacturing support teams and a fully managed certification process.

Minuet modules will be sampling with selected partners this month.

Anthony Sethill, CEO, Frontier Silicon, said:

“We are delighted to be working with Marvell and Google on this project. It is our intention to establish ourselves as leaders in connected audio and Minuet will be the cornerstone to help us achieve it.”
