STMicroelectronics’ NFC Transceiver Powers New NFC/RFID UART Module from Shanghai Stollmann

Shanghai, China, April 23, 2015 – An NFC transceiver from STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, has been selected by Shanghai Stollmann Communication Technology Co. Ltd., a leading protocol stack provider in NFC and Bluetooth, for its new NFC/RFID UART[1]module.

The new module combines a small form factor[2] with robust performance and optimized power consumption, allowingmanufacturers to develop RF reader systems for paired data exchange, authentication, and identification applications in Healthcare, Industrial, Home appliances, and Consumer electronics.

The NFCMod+S68 module integrates ST’s ST95HF NFC/RFID transceiver IC and an STM32F4 microcontroller with Shanghai Stollmann’s NFC protocol stacks and a UART driver. Compliant with the ISO14443 A/B, Felica, and ISO15693 standards, the module supports the reader mode, card mode, and balanced point-to-point data communication, and works with almost all types of contactless smart cards available on the market.

“NFC is an essential transmission technology used in different industries and areas. The combination of ST’s NFC and MCU chips with Shanghai Stollmann’s software enables the development of high-quality solutions for all NFC market segments, including healthcare, home appliances, consumer electronics, and industrial identification,” said Mr. Tao Liu, Senior NFC Project Manager at Shanghai Stollmann.

“The Shanghai Stollmann protocol stack ranks among the industry’s leading software solutions for the NFC market,” saidArnaud Julienne, Director, Microcontrollers, Memory and Secure Microcontrollers, Greater China & South Asia Region, STMicroelectronics. “The integration with ST’s market-proven NFC and MCU technology opens new possibilities for NFC in a wide range of applications.”
