SAN JOSE, Calif., 06 Jan 2015 – Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) today announced that HARMAN’s Clari-Fi™ music restoration technology has been ported to the Cadence® Tensilica® HiFi Audio/Voice digital signal processor (DSP) family.

Designed to enhance music playback on devices including smartphones, home audio products, and OEM automotive audio systems, HARMAN’s Clari-Fi music restoration technology automatically analyzes and improves the audio quality of all types of compressed, digitized music sources, reconstructing the information lost during the compression process. The Clari-Fi algorithm identifies which music files have been compressed as well as the type of reconstruction required to restore the full listening experience. A demonstration of the solution is scheduled at Cadence booth MP25677 at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show from January 6-9, 2015. “Our Clari-Fi software is a perfect complement to the HiFi DSP not only because of its broad adoption in SoCs for embedded automotive audio and infotainment systems but for its application across mobile devices, home audio systems and anywhere that audio quality matters,” stated Michael Mauser, president, Lifestyle Division, HARMAN. “Compression can remove 90 percent of the audio details from original recordings. Our Clari-Fi software analyzes the music in realtime, rebuilds lost details, and restores high fidelity.”

“HARMAN’s Clari-Fi software can provide Cadence automotive customers and end consumers with significantly enriched audio quality of all types of compressed, digitized music sources,” said Larry Przywara, director of audio/voice IP marketing, Cadence. “HARMAN’S music restoration technology is an excellent example of software that can take maximum advantage of our HiFi DSP family.”

The Tensilica HiFi Audio/Voice DSP is the most widely used and licensable audio/voice DSP family, with support for over 140 proven audio/voice software packages and have over 65 partners.
