Load Switch from Diodes Incorporated Enhances System Power Control

Plano, Texas – January 6, 2015 –– Diodes Incorporated today introduced a 5V single-channel load switch with programmable soft-start and discharge rate. The ultra-low on-resistance AP22800 N channel switch reduces volt drop and power dissipation and offers continuous current handling of 6.0A, providing tighter regulation of system power delivery in ultrabooks and tablets.

Simple to programme, the device’s start-up and discharge rates are set using an external capacitor and external resistor, respectively.  The load switch also provides an open-drain ‘power good’ output flag to signal target output voltage has been achieved.

The AP22800 is designed to operate from 1.5V to 5V, giving it the flexibility to support 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V system rails.  Its quiescent current is also low at 21µA, making it a good choice in cell-backed distributed power systems, where power conservation is vital.

To help increase power density, the load switch is provided in the thermally efficient, low profile DFN2116-8, which features a footprint of only 3.36mm2.  The AP22800 is priced at $0.08USD each in 1K quantities.  For more information visit www.diodes.com
