CUI Expands Next Generation Open Frame Power Supply Family up to 150 Watts

TUALATIN, Ore. — September 9, 2014 — CUI Inc announced today that it has expanded its VOF series of compact, open frame ac-dc power supplies to include 100, 120, and 150 W versions.

The single-output supplies are higher-power additions to their recently released series of second generation open frame power supplies, designed to provide a number of improvements over the company’s previous offering, including higher efficiencies, improved no-load performance, and a boost in power.

The power supplies can accommodate a wide universal input voltage of 90~277 Vac at 47-63 Hz input, offering global compatibility for OEM manufacturers. They have been created to provide an industry leading combination of efficiency and competitive pricing, making the series ideally suited for use in a wide range of ITE, industrial, and consumer electronics applications.

The 100, 120 and 150 W versions offer output voltage options of 5, 12, 15, 24, 36 and 48 Vdc depending on the series. All models include output voltage adjustability of +/-5% via an onboard potentiometer.

The VOF-100 is rated for operation at 100% load with 6.7 CFM of forced air cooling from -20°C to 50°C, derating to 50% load at 60°C. VOF-120 and VOF-150 models operate under convection cooling conditions at 100% load from -20°C to 40°C, also derating to 50% load at 60°C.

All models are packaged in industry standard footprints.  The 100 W VOF series measures just 101.6 x 50.75 x 33.6 mm (4.00 x 2.00 x 1.32 in), while the 120 W and 150 W VOF models measure 127 x 76.2 x 33.1 mm (5.00 x 3.00 x 1.32 in.)

Reaching efficiencies of up to 90% and no-load power consumption as low as 0.25 W, the VOF Series also carries UL/cUL and TUV 60950-1 safety certifications and are qualified for the CE mark, EN 55022 Class B, and FCC Class B EMI standards. Protections for over voltage, over current and short circuit are included as well as primary to secondary isolation voltage of 3 K Vac.  The VOF-150 series is also designed with active power factor correction.

The new VOF series is available through distribution with prices starting at $36.28 per unit at 100 pieces. Please contact CUI for OEM pricing.

Summary

Availability: 8-10 weeks
Possible applications: ITE, telecommunication, industrial applications
Primary features: Compact, efficient, economical
