Abracon Introduces Near Field Communication (NFC) Antennas

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 – A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control and magnetic components, Abracon Corporation introduces its range of near field communication (NFC) antennas.

The ANFCA series is a range of NFC antennas designed to operate at 13.56MHz. Its design is constructed from a flexible and very thin-layered structure to form a compact peel and stick NFC antenna.

“The ANFCA series of NFC antennas is targeted to mobile devices and mobile payment machine applications, yet additionally creative ways to use NFC devices are likely to become commonplace around the home, in the car or at work. NFC enabled devices can transfer shared data over short distances, but can also communicate to NFC tags that can be pre-programmed via mobile applications to control the functions of the device, for example enabling a door entry or switching on WiFi,” explains Dean Clark, Senior Technical Manager at Abracon Corporation.

“The range of NFC antennas offered by Abracon will initially start with four sizes from 25x15mm up to 40x60mm, but we intend to greatly extend this range, offering a wider selection of shapes and sizes suitable for different applications,” continues Clark.

Abracon can also offer a NFC antenna customization service, matching coil shape and size to application.

For optimum performance, NFC antennas should be matched to the application design and the NFC controller being used. Abracon offers a matching service for the ANFCA series antennas to leading brands of NFC controllers; this offers values for the discrete components to provide EMC filtering and antenna matching for optimum performance. Antenna matching component values are available on ANFCA datasheets, but may need optimization depending upon antenna environment.

Key features of this device include:

  • An ultra thin and flexible antenna structure (140 – 240 ?m).
  • Peel and stick antenna designs.
  • A ferrite backed design that optimizes magnetic fields, thus increasing the resultant strength of the antenna.
  • A -40C to +85C operating temperature range.
  • Matching to leading NFC controller ICs.
  • A wide range of sizes and shapes to meet different application designs.
  • Customized solutions.
  • Low cost.

This solution will be marketed through Abracon’s Global Distribution partners at a competitive resale price.

Quickly and accurately identify inter-domain leakage issues in IC designs

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Power domain leakage is a major IC reliability issue, often missed by traditional tools. This white paper describes challenges of identifying leakage, types of false results, and presents Siemens EDA’s Insight Analyzer. The tool proactively finds true leakage paths, filters out false positives, and helps circuit designers quickly fix risks—enabling more robust, reliable chip designs. With detailed, context-aware analysis, designers save time and improve silicon quality.
