Cirrus Logic Elevates User Experience for Smartphones, Tablets with New Voice Processors That Deliver Clear Communications Anytime, Anywhere

AUSTIN, Texas – Feb. 13, 2014 – Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS), a leader in high-precision analog and digital signal processing components, is extending its portfolio of market-leading portable audio ICs with a new line of voice processors for mobile applications. The ultra-low power Cirrus Logic CS48LV12/13 voice processors with integrated SoundClear® technology elevate the user experience and improve voice recognition accuracy in smartphones, tablets and wearables by improving voice quality, eliminating background noise and delivering clear communications in any environment.

Cirrus Logic’s SoundClear technology features single/dual microphone noise suppression and acoustic echo cancelation for both narrow and wideband audio content, providing manufacturers with a complete hardware and embedded software product capable of delivering unmatched consumer experiences with voice recognition applications and phone conversations in handset or speakerphone mode. Speakerphone use cases for both productivity and entertainment are becoming increasingly important, and SoundClear technology delivers a clear performance advantage with a best-in-class full duplex and echo-free experience.

“Voice-enabled interface features will continue to fuel growth in mobile devices, yet will require superior signal processing technology to give consumers an exceptional user experience,” said Jason Rhode, president and CEO, Cirrus Logic. “Cirrus Logic provides complete IC solutions that leverage our audio DSP hardware and advanced SoundClear embedded software to ensure superior voice performance, anytime and anywhere.”

To facilitate faster time-to-market for mobile applications with fundamental voice processing requirements, the CS48LV12 offers a fixed function, turnkey solution with the latest SoundClear voice technology for noise suppression and echo cancelation. The configurable CS48LV13 adds ASR Enhance™, a dual-microphone noise reduction technology, to improve the reliability and accuracy of automatic speech recognition (ASR) engines operating in harsh, noisy environments.

To enable “always on” voice wakeup of mobile devices, the CS48LV13 supports the industry’s lowest power implementation of TrulyHandsfree™ technology from Sensory, Inc. By combining TrulyHandsfree technology with SoundClear ASR Enhance, ultra-low power voice detection, optimized hardware and intelligent system control, the CS48LV13 provides customers a solution for using voice as an interface to wake up a device and the ability to always be active and on, without eroding the customer experience due to observed battery life reduction.

Implemented and optimized on the industry’s smallest, lowest-power audio DSP, the 32-bit CS48LV12/13 includes advanced multimedia software to enable a variety of audio and voice enhancements. When combined with the SoundClear RAPID2 acoustic tuning tool and world-class support, leading OEMs can rely on Cirrus Logic solutions powered by SoundClear to enable compelling new features and performance in the latest consumer products.

Cirrus Logic’s SoundClear technology has been shipped in more than 75 million units representing more than 135 products, including leading smartphones, tablets, Bluetooth® speakers and automotive entertainment systems.
