XP Power launch family of “green” 130 Watt 2” x 4” AC-DC power supplies

XP Power announced today a 130 Watt addition to the ECS series of AC-DC power supplies. Packaged in a compact 2 x 4 x 1.25 inch (50.8 x 101.6 x 31.8 mm) open-frame format, the high efficiency single output ECS130 can be either convection or forced air cooled and used in a variety of end-applications. When convection cooled, the unit is capable of up to 100 Watts output. The full 130 Watts output can be delivered with only 10 CFM airflow across the power supply. The series comprises 6 single output models providing the popular nominal output voltages from +12 to +48 VDC. The extra wide input accommodates the full universal voltage range from 80 – 264 VAC.

The “green” credentials of the ECS130 includes an efficiency of up to 90% and a no load power consumption of less than 0.5 Watt. Less wasted heat is generated and the specifications helps design engineer’s ensure their end-system meets the demanding requirements of international energy efficiency standards.  The supply can operate over an extended temperature range from -40 to +70 degrees C, with no derating until +50 degrees C.

The ECS130 meets ANSI/AMMI ES60601-1 and IEC60601-1 medical equipment safety standards and UL60950-1 / IEC60950-1 standards for IT and industrial equipment. It also complies with both Class B conducted and Class A radiated limits of both EN55011 / EN55022 standards for emissions without the need for additional filtering components.

Provision for a Class I or Class II input gives the designer the option of choosing to use an input ground if required. A cover can also be specified for class I applications.

The ECS series of power supplies suit designers of medical, IT or industrial equipment. Applications cover a wide variety, such as test and measurement, broadcast equipment, communications and data storage. The medical safety approval makes it suitable for products such as portable medical devices, home healthcare devices and personal drug delivery equipment.

The ECS130 is priced at $55.38 in 500 pc quantities. It is available from Newark or direct from XP Power and comes with a 3 year warranty.

Achieve Greater Design Flexibility and Reduce Costs with Chiplets

Sponsored by Keysight

Chiplets are a new way to build a system-on-chips (SoCs) to improve yields and reduce costs. It partitions the chip into discrete elements and connects them with a standardized interface, enabling designers to meet performance, efficiency, power, size, and cost challenges in the 5 / 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual reality (VR) era. This white paper will discuss the shift to chiplet adoption and Keysight EDA's implementation of the communication standard (UCIe) into the Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS).
