ITTIA Updates Software for Large Data Management on Embedded Devices

December 31, 2013 — Bellevue, WA — ITTIA, the trusted leader in modern database software for embedded systems and smart devices, today revealed new ITTIA DB SQL capabilities specifically designed to help embedded developers achieve large volume data management and analytics. With faster processing of large result sets from high-capacity storage, this update addresses the growing scale of data in embedded systems.

As embedded systems and mobile devices manufacturers tackle the rising volume of data, they face the growing challenge of how to analyze a large quantity of data quickly through a variety of complex queries. ITTIA DB SQL is already used in an extensive range of products to manage large data collections, as it provides a solid software foundation for embedded devices to address critical statistical analysis for precise decision making. Advantages of this update include high performance queries, reduced memory overhead, and more effective use of row-level locking.

The ITTIA DB SQL architecture offers broad flexibility and scalability to address a wide range of embedded system and device developer requirements, with the choice of on-disk, in-memory, or hybrid storage options. Data is organized and continuously indexed for multiple levels of analysis. Applications can quickly filter data in different ways, for example to request data captured over a certain time range and also to search for measurements that exceed a safe tolerance level.

The development and implementation of new embedded solutions produces a demand for large volume data management on devices that would have been stand-alone in previous hardware generations. Now, as these devices become part of a networked and connected ecosystem, the complexity of data management and system connectivity makes it difficult to find and query data that originates from another system. Data distribution features in ITTIA DB SQL help applications to proactively collect data where it is needed most, whether that is on another embedded system or in a back-end RDBMS product.

ITTIA DB SQL is a leading-edge cross-platform embedded database for Android, Linux, Windows, QNX, ThreadX, VxWorks, Nucleus, and generic ARM targets with no operating system.
