GRENOBLE, France — Movea, the leading provider of data fusion and motion-processing solutions, announced today the availability of its indoor navigation design suite for the Android 4.3 and above mobile operating system — a key step in enabling technology companies and businesses to deploy indoor navigation solutions for map and positioning applications and targeted advertising.
“As the demand for location-based services continues to increase, we are bringing our groundbreaking indoor pedestrian solution to the Android platform, providing the industry with accurate dead reckoning, map matching and data fusion techniques – key elements in delivering a reliable, sensor-based indoor navigation solution”
Through the availability of the indoor navigation design suite, Movea is putting its expertise in the hands of application developers to integrate quality data for smarter mobile devices. With the release of Android 4.3, it is now possible to access uncalibrated raw sensor data at the application level, enabling Movea to roll out its own highly accurate and robust indoor navigation solution to determine trajectory and orientation-based motion processing and data fusion techniques. As a result, Movea makes it possible for mobile device OEMs and applications developers to integrate valuable data including users’ trajectory, step and distance calculation outputs into location-based end-user applications. Thanks to this design suite, data fusion of motion processing and RF positioning technologies like GPS, WiFi and indoor maps, can now be easily developed to provide a complete and accurate solution for indoor navigation and location services for mobile devices.
“As the demand for location-based services continues to increase, we are bringing our groundbreaking indoor pedestrian solution to the Android platform, providing the industry with accurate dead reckoning, map matching and data fusion techniques – key elements in delivering a reliable, sensor-based indoor navigation solution,” said Wahid Issa, Movea’s vice president of marketing. “Our ultimate goal with this indoor navigation design suite is to allow new services enabled by Movea’s unique capabilities and large patent pool to get one step closer to making indoor navigation a reality. We’re providing a unique embedded solution optimized for mobile device constraints that provides robust and accurate positioning while maintaining ultra low power consumption.”
In July, Movea demonstrated its pedestrian navigation with the help of SNCF, France’s national railway company, as well as leading platform service provider SK planet, a wholly owned subsidiary of SK telecom, South Korea’s largest mobile network operator solution. In two separate demos, Movea showcased its accurate dead reckoning and map matching techniques that compensate for magnetic perturbations and gyroscopic drift regardless of location or the position of the device with the creation of a first-of-its-kind data fusion framework.
