Laird to Present on Benefits of Bluetooth Low Energy for Medical Devices

November 5, 2013 – Laird, a global technology company, announced that one of their Wireless technology experts will present at the Fifth Annual Medical Device Connectivity Conference, a conference and exhibition that focuses on the integration of medical devices and information systems. The conference takes place November 21 – 22, 2013 at the Hyatt Dulles in Herndon, Virginia.

Chris Downey, Product Manager for Laird, will present on the adoption of Bluetooth technology for medical devices, with a focus on design considerations, managing power consumption and deployment considerations to ensure reliable wireless systems. Chris will also be joined by Bill Saltzstein, medical business development director of connectBlue. Their presentation begins at 10:30 a.m. on Track A, November 22, 2013.  For a full agenda of the conference, visit http://tcbi.org/mdc2013/agenda/

“Bluetooth and in particular the Bluetooth 4.0 specification which includes Bluetooth Low Energy is expected to see rapid adoption in medical devices. Bluetooth Low Energy offers significant benefits for medical devices by providing a secure, low latency, low power solution for delivering small packets of data, such as for medical devices,” said Downey.

The conference also features several other presentations on topics including interoperability, patient safety, best practices for risk management and the future of medical device connectivity.
