LeddarTech Unveils Its Ground-Breaking Industrial Leddar™ Sensor

QUEBEC CITY, CANADA, October 28, 2013 – LeddarTech, owner of the patented Leddar™ LED-based detection technology is pleased to introduce its new Industrial Leddar™ Sensor, a unique detection and ranging product offering the best cost/performance ratio on the market.

Distinctive Features

This novel sensor can detect, locate and measure all types of objects—solid or liquid—even in the harshest conditions. As it contains no moving parts and comes in an IP67 enclosure, it is rugged and weather-resistant, always ensuring unparalleled performance.

Optimized for 0 to 50 meter (165 ft.) detection and ranging based on cutting-edge technology, the Industrial Leddar™ Sensor not only provides both distance and angular positioning,it also continuously analyzes an area of 16 segments, and can be configured at the touch of a button. The sensor has a built-in Presence Detection Mode where the outputs can be set according to whether or not there are objects within configured detection zones. The Teach Configuration feature uses the perimeter of the sensor’s surroundings as the detection zone. The sensor measurements from all segments can also be acquired in real time through the RS-485 link.

The Industrial Leddar™ Sensor utilizes a 45-degree beam and is specially designed for quick and easy integration into a wide variety of applications.

Leddar™ Detection and Ranging Technology

At the heart of the Industrial Leddar™ Sensor lies the unique patented Leddar™ technology, an innovative detection and ranging technology that performs time-of-flight measurement using pulses from infrared LEDs. Combining multiple independent active elements, typically 16, into a single sensor, Leddar™ continuously provides rapid and accurate detection and ranging in the entire beam, without any moving parts. The large beam and diffused light pulses of the Industrial Leddar™ Sensor, processed through innovative algorithms, allow for the detection of a wide range of objects under various environmental conditions.

“With the Industrial Leddar™ Sensor, we are bringing an affordable and state-of-the-art finished product to the market,” states Sonia Bélanger, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at LeddarTech. “What’s more, Leddar™ technology, the science behind this sensor, is also available in different formats such as assemblies or modules, so depending on the final application, it can be easily integrated into customers’ own applications and can serve several industries.”
