Two US Companies Collaborate to Present Agile Short Course on Medical Devices in Denmark

ShoeBar Associates (http://www.shoebarassoc.com) has established a collaboration with Lean-Agile Partners (http://www.leanagilepartners.com).  This collaboration combines the expertise of Lean-Agile Partners, from eleven years of Agile team coaching and safety-critical systems development, with that of ShoeBar Associates, with seven years of software quality and software validation services to regulated companies, and hands-on work in both immunodiagnostics and clinical trial data management.

Through their collaboration, the two are helping medical device companies gain the speed and quality advantages of Agile methodology while ensuring that their processes and documentation are both nimble and fully compliant. Together they will jointly present a three-day version of their successful course on Agile adoption for regulated medical software, on October 30 – November 1 2013 in Hørsholm, Denmark.  The course, titled “Agile Medical Device Software Development,” will be hosted by Delta (http://www.madebydelta.com), a Danish technology development and dissemination firm.

“Agile software development is absolutely crucial to medical software all over the world, since (when applied with appropriate discipline) it gives high quality software with extremely low defect count, high safety, and much improved productivity over traditional development methods,” reported Dr. Shoemaker.  “European companies appear to be exploring Agile methods more than U.S. companies, perhaps because of a different regulatory environment.”

“I look forward to this session,” says Dr. Shoemaker. “We’ve beefed up our real-world examples, included more experience reports, and increased the hands-on class participation over previous versions of the course. The audience always keeps us on our toes.”

“Northern Europe is not the only region where we offer this course,” adds Nancy Van Schooenderwoert, Agile coach with Lean-Agile Partners(http://www.leanagilepartners.com). “We’re planning similar course offerings in the United States, and are willing to present it in-house if a company wants it presented that way.”
