GrammaTech Adds Dynamic Analysis to Product Portfolio with Cantata

ITHACA, N.Y., Sept. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — GrammaTech, the leading developer of software-assurance tools and advanced cyber-security solutions, today announced that the company is offering an advanced dynamic analysis tool. Cantata, a leading unit testing tool for C, C++, and Java, will now be sold and fully supported in the United States by GrammaTech. The addition of Cantata will complementCodeSonar, GrammaTech’s flagship static analysis tool, providing development teams with advanced software analysis throughout the entire development process.

Cantata will also give teams the power to achieve key compliance certifications. The tool brings built-in guidance and reporting to help users navigate the complex process of meeting multiple international compliance guidelines. Currently, the product is certified to support the IEC 61508 (general industrial), ISO 26262 (automotive), EN 50128 (railways), IEC 60880 (nuclear power), DO-178B/C (avionics), and IEC 62304 (medical devices) standards. And unlike other solutions, the Cantata compliance toolkit is completely free.

“Our customers frequently express interest in dynamic testing, specifically looking to us for expert guidance in their efforts to comply with worldwide software certification standards,” said Paul Anderson, VP of Engineering at GrammaTech.  “With Cantata, we are adding a great solution for achieving code compliance certification at a low cost.”

GrammaTech partnered with QA Systems to bring Cantata to the US because it is the leading dynamic testing tool in Europe, where standards aren’t just recommended, but legally required. Cantata works with embedded development environments and targets, and with an Eclipse UI, Cantata provides a complete environment for the creation, execution, and analysis of unit and integration tests.

“GrammaTech’s deep technical expertise surrounding code quality made them a natural partner for us in the U.S.,” explained Andreas Sczepansky, CEO of QA Systems. “The combination of static and dynamic testing gives companies significantly deeper coverage when reviewing code for defects. As a result, development teams can expect accelerated development cycles that yield higher quality code.”
