HDL Design House MIPI CSI-2 TX IP core successfully integrated into Fujitsu APIX® Companion Chip

Belgrade, Serbia – September 11th, 2013 – HDL Design House, provider of high performance digital and analog IP cores and SoC design and verification services, today announced that its MIPI CSI-2 Transmitter (HIP 3900) digital IP core, compliant with the MIPI Alliance CSI-2 Specification, has been successfully integrated into Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe GmbH’s APIX®1 Companion Chip. Choosing HDL DH MIPI CSI-2 Tx IP core, along with HDL DH customization and verification services for this IP core, enabled the Fujitsu design team to accelerate the design of the project, to be launched on time in Fujitsu’s own 65nm technology.

As part of a graphical subsystem for the automotive industry, the Fujitsu team required a reliable partner for delivering not only a high-quality MIPI CSI-2 Tx IP core, but also being able to implement  and integrate the core with the Fujitsu own D-PHY as well as to provide project-specific customization of the IP core in a very short time frame. In addition to delivering silicon-proven MIPI CSI-2 Tx IP core, HDL Design House augmented the Fujitsu team expertise by providing customization services, IP core integration support as well as IP core and top level verification services using Cadence Design Systems’ MIPI VIP solutions. HDL Design House team worked closely with Fujitsu engineers throughout the implementation of their chip, delivering expertise and advanced methodologies in IP design and verification, and completed the customization in less than three months.

“We choose HDL Design House based on their exceptional experience in the field of MIPI design architectures as well as their ability to adopt and integrate the CSI-2 protocol into a million gate LSI that is implemented in a Fujitsu’s own 65nm process technology. The main challenge was to adopt the IP to another high speed video transmission protocol used in automotive applications – the Automotive Pixel Link (APIX®)- and to achieve the high bandwidth and reliability required for automotive applications”, said Raimund Soenning, Manager Hardware Development at Fujitsu’s Graphic Competence Center (GCC) in Munich.

“We were very excited to be chosen by Fujitsu to work on such a challenging project that provided us with the opportunity to demonstrate the expertise of our team in many different areas such as MIPI protocols, digital/analog verification, top level verification and SoC implementation,” said Mr Predrag Markovic, HDL Design House CEO. “It was a pleasure working with Fujitsu team and I’m looking forward to our future collaboration.”

HDL Design House announced the release of its MIPI CSI-2 Tx (HIP 3900) IP core on December 7th, 2012, as part of its FlexIP core library.

About HDL DH FlexIP core library

The FlexIP core library includes a broad portfolio of high-quality, silicon proven digital and analog IP cores for SoC designs. The library covers a large number of standards and protocols such as MIPI (M-PHY, D-PHY, CSI, DSI, UniPro, DigRF, BIF, SPMI), USF, I2S, Serial RapidIO, SPI flash memory controller, PCS, JESD204B, and others. Apart from the large number of supported protocols and standards, one of the greatest competitive advantage for users of the FlexIP core library is HDL Design House outstanding capabilities in providing integration services, customization of the IP core at customer’s request, verification solutions for the given IP core, as well as on site support.
