Imagination’s Flow platform to deliver new licensable consumer music and radio streaming solution

London, UK – 5th September, 2013 – Imagination Technologies (IMG.L), a leading multimedia, processor, communications and cloud technologies company, introduces FlowAudio, a licensable cloud-based music and radio service that provides subscription access to over 24 million music tracks as well as hundreds of thousands of radio stations, on-demand programmes and podcasts.

FlowAudio is a comprehensive platform for delivering audio and creating seamless interaction between chips and devices enabled by Imagination’s IP, streaming Apps, and cloud based services.

Manufacturers can integrate the FlowAudio streaming music service and internet radio directly into connected audio products such as digital radios, streaming music systems, speaker systems, TV/STB, media dongles, headphones, automotive and other products – also controllable from a smartphone or tablet.

FlowAudio is the easiest solution for streaming music to a wide range of devices as well as downloading purchased tracks. Unlike some services, which only work with streaming content, FlowAudio can play the consumer’s own content, from their device or network, including local MP3/AAC files and FLAC/ALAC lossless audio. It also works seamlessly with Imagination’s Caskeid technology to provide the world’s most accurately synchronised wireless multiroom streaming.*

Imagination director of Flow Services Pete Downton says: “There are many companies who excel at audio and product design but are now looking to take advantage of the new possibilities and massive market opportunity opened up by streaming and multiroom. Our market-proven FlowAudio technology enables them to focus on audio quality while working with a partner that can keep them at the front of new audio streaming and connectivity innovation.”

FlowAudio is based on Imagination’s Flow cloud platform. Its music component has been developed in partnership with 7 Digital which provides a digital warehouse with over 24 million high quality tracks. The radio component is based on Imagination’s long history in providing internet and radio on demand audio content via its Pure brand.

FlowAudio compatible products are already shipping from Pure, Imagination’s consumer electronics division. More products are already in advanced design from lead audio brands working with Imagination and semiconductor manufacturer Frontier Silicon, part of the Toumaz Group. The FlowAudio platform already supports phone and tablet optimized Apps for both iOS and Android.

Continues Downton: “With FlowAudio and our other connected consumer platforms, Imagination is providing a unique platform. We’re offering a connected solution built around our IP cores and ecosystem partners, which creates tremendous value for our licensees and their OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) customers. Companies whose products incorporate Imagination IP such as our MIPS CPU, Ensigma RPU, and Flow cloud technology, can now easily provide a rich, turnkey music and radio service for a heightened consumer experience.”

Pure Connect: powered by Flow

Pure Connect, available via any web browser at www.pureconnect.com, or as an app for iOS and Android, is one example of an entertainment cloud service powered by Flow, and it demonstrates the capabilities of the technology. Pure, a global leader in wireless music and radio systems, provides access to Pure Connect through its radios and other consumer systems which ship in the UK, USA and other markets.
