CUI Launches High Isolation Dc-Dc Converters with 105oC Operating Temperature Range for Challenging Applications

TUALATIN, Ore. – July 9, 2013 – CUI Inc has introduced a family of low-power board mount dc-dc converters that provides 3000 Vdc I/O isolation and an ultra-wide operating temperature range of -40~105°C for the most demanding applications.

The unregulated PEM series is the latest addition to CUI’s second-generation low power dc-dc converter line and has been specifically designed to improve efficiency and thermal performance in the customer’s application.  The 1 W / 2 W family offers a rugged and reliable solution for converting and isolating dc rails within a range of applications, such as medical, industrial control, security, and telecom systems.

The PEM series delivers efficiencies to 89% – a 5% increase over the first-generation. To further enhance the series’ performance across the entire load curve, and reduce dissipated heat, the modules have been designed to greatly limit power draw under light and no load conditions.

The PEM family is housed in a compact, industry standard 7 pin SIP package measuring 0.77 x 0.28 x 0.39 in. (19.6 x 7.0 x 10.0 mm). Nominal inputs of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, and 24 Vdc (±10%) and output voltage configurations of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 24, ±5, ±12, ±15, and ±24 Vdc are available.

To provide an additional layer of protection for sensitive loads, the PEM family also comes with continuous short circuit protection and antistatic protection to 8 kV.

The PEM series is available immediately with prices starting at $4.11 per unit for 500 pieces through distribution. Please contact CUI for OEM pricing.

Downloadable datasheets and individual model specifications are available at bit.ly/cui-pem1 and bit.ly/cui-pem2.

Summary

Product Name: PEM series
Availability: Stock to 6 weeks
Target Markets: Medical, industrial control, security, telecom applications
Primary Features: Wide temperature range, high efficiency
Cost: Starting at $4.11 per unit for 500 pieces though distribution
