Frontier Silicon is proud to announce Venice 6.5 Dual Band, the first connected audio module with support for 2.4 and 5GHz frequency bands.
The proliferation of wireless-connected devices at home, from smartphones and tablets to games consoles and appliances, causes saturation in the 2.4GHz band, which is used by traditional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth products. In wireless audio, this affects the reliability of the connection, causes audio dropouts and other negative effects that degrade the listening experience.
Venice 6.5, the latest wireless audio module from Frontier Silicon, addresses these issues by incorporating a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi transceiver supporting both the old 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The new 5GHz band opens a clean channel for high bandwidth, time-critical connections such as video and audio streaming. The 5GHz band has been enabled in Wi-Fi access points and routers since its adoption, but Venice 6.5 is the first connected audio module to take advantage of this data highway in the home to guarantee a flawless experience.
Venice 6.5 is a fully qualified 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi solution, with integrated dual-band antenna. The solution is also compliant with DLNA 1.5 to ensure maximum compatibility with other device manufacturers. Integrated Apple Lightning docking, internet radio, DAB/DAB+/FM-RDS tuner, localised user interfaces, a wide selection of IO, make Venice 6.5 the most advanced and cost-effective connected audio module in the market today. As for the future, Venice 6.5 also has it covered with an IPv6-ready software stack, the connectivity required in the new era of the Internet of Things. “These are exciting times”, said Jim Nicholas, VP Marketing at Frontier Silicon. “We have a multitude of amazing features in the pipeline and we are looking forward to enabling a new generation of connected audio products with the best hardware platform in the market”.
FS2026-5 Venice 6.5 Dual Band is in production now. The evaluation platform Jupiter 6.5 is also available to facilitate product design and ensure the quickest time-to-market. For information and sales enquiries please contact your Frontier Silicon representative.
