Silicon Craft Technology (SIC), a leading designer and supplier in the RFID IC industry, has proudly added the innovative and advanced SIC7999 product to its Life Form Identification line, which is compliant to the ISO 11784/5 Animal Id data structure.
The SIC7999 is a fully integrated Half-Duplex Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) ASIC IC, designed by taking advantage of SIC’s patented Energy Harvesting technique, which can achieve a 15% longer read range than its previous generation IC. According to the test results at the PTEC (Electrical and Electronics Product testing center), SIC7999 tags have been tested with three panel readers which are well-known in the market. The results show that SIC7999 can perform at least 7.76% longer than competitors’ tags, resulting in the world’s longest read-range HDX RFID transponder in the market.
SIC7999 is an extremely low power CMOS IC with a typical operating current of 4.8uA and a stand-by current as low as 500nA. It contains on-chip resonant capacitors, which are programmable by non-volatile switches, allowing the IC to fully harvest energy from the activation field as soon as it is powered.
The IC contains a pre-configured 128-bit read/write memory for generic HDX RFID readers and an additional built-in read/write user memory up to 192 bits (6 blocks) for advanced database system. The device is intended for an implementation of advanced feature animal ID tags, enabling users to perform read/write operation with advanced database companion reader/writer. The factory-programmed Unique ID provides the chip’s uniqueness.
The SIC7999 harnesses energy from the activation field of the RFID reader and stores it into a large storage capacitor. After the activation field is turned off, the transponder transmits its 128-bit Unique ID to the reader by default. The transponder response is an FSK modulation and each bit is 16 clock cycles long.
“By applying years of engineering expertise, SIC is able to deliver SIC7999 — an extended read range, energy-efficient and powerful IC — to our customers. Through developing our own Energy Harvesting technology and the creative efforts of our innovative design team, today we are in the position to provide extremely effective RFID applications to the world of technology,” said Manop Thamsirianunt, SIC’s founder and CEO.
