Pure Turns to Mentor Graphics to Develop an Innovative User Interface for its Pure Avalon 300R HD Digital TV Recorder

WILSONVILLE, Ore., February 12, 2012—Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that Pure, part of Imagination Technologies, has used Mentor Graphics® UI technology and services to create the Pure Avalon 300R Connect Freeview+ HD Digital TV Recorder 3D user interface (UI). Pure has succeeded in developing a 3D graphical UI for the Avalon 300R that has received top industry product reviews.

“Mentor’s UI expertise and UI technology combined with Imagination’s PowerVR graphics processor has created a truly amazing 3D UI which offers Pure Avalon customers 3D menus, smooth transitions, and even a 3D page-curl effect,” said Paul Smith, general manager of Pure. “We are really pleased with the response the UI has received, with one review describing it as one of the best designed and graphically impressive user interfaces they had seen. Indeed it is one of the best in the STB/TV space.”

The Mentor Graphics UI technology includes the award-winning Inflexion® UI product which is used by hundreds of embedded system developers across the world, allowing them to create graphically rich, dynamic 2D and 3D UIs without spiraling development complexity or costs. UIs and UI logic are developed, managed and configured using the Inflexion UI Express PC tool, and then run on an efficient and powerful embedded engine. Inflexion fully utilizes any available OpenGL ES hardware graphics acceleration and is available on GENIVI, Linux, Android, and Nucleus® operating systems, and portable to a wide range of other operating platforms. “Imagination Technologies provides the graphics performance to power some of the world’s best embedded devices,” said Glenn Perry, general manager, Mentor Graphics Embedded Software Division. “It is a testament to Mentor’s graphics expertise and technology that an innovative company like Imagination has selected Mentor to provide UI technology and expertise for Pure’s new set-top-box.”
