CUI’s 300 W ac-dc power supplies offer outstanding power density of 12.5 W/in3 and meet EN60601-1 3rd edition for medical applications

TUALATIN, Ore. – August 16, 2012 – CUI Inc announces the addition of a family of compact 300 W power supplies to its VMS ac-dc medical power portfolio. Offering exceptionally high power density of 12.5 W/in3, the space-saving power supplies are housed in three optional case styles, including a compact U-frame measuring 5 x 3.2 x 1.5 inches (127.00 x 81.28 x 38.1 mm) and an enclosed version with top or rear fan. The power supplies meet EN60601-1 3rd edition specifications for medical and dental applications, carry UL/cUL and TUV 60601-1 3rd edition safety certifications, and provide EN55022 class B EMI compliance. They feature 4k Vac reinforced input-to-output isolation and an output-to-ground isolation of 1500 Vac.

VMS-300 power supplies have a universal 90~264 Vac input for global operation and are available with single outputs from 12 to 48 Vdc or dual outputs of 5/12 Vdc and 12/24 Vdc. The power supplies are rated for operation at full load from 0° to 50°C ambient, derating to 50% load at 70 °C. They feature active PFC and protection for over voltage, over current, short circuit, and over temperature. Connections for remote on/off control and power good are included.

“Growing power demands and increasingly complex regulatory standards continue to present challenges for the designers of medical equipment,” said Kraig Kawada, VP of Product Management for CUI.  “With the addition of the VMS-300 to our medical power supply portfolio, we continue to help our customers address the needs for smaller, more efficient medical power supplies that meet all of the necessary regulatory standards.”

The VMS-300 power supply is priced at $104.54 each in quantities of 250 units.
