Matrox Launches Mura MPX Series 2.01 Driver for Enhanced Functionality and New Maximum Configurations of Flagship Video Wall Controller Boards

Montreal, Canada, May 15, 2012 — Matrox Graphics Inc. today announced the release of the 2.01 driver of its Mura MPX Series video wall controller boards, enhancing current functionalities and adding compatibility with other Matrox high-performance multi-display solutions. Mura output/input boards can now be used in conjunction with the newly released Mura MPX-SDI and MPX-V16 and MPX-V8 analog capture SKUs as well as the Matrox Streaming Media Decoder (SMD-2) Series cards. Custom-made collaborative video wall solutions comprising up to 58 DVI-SL or RGB outputs can now be easily tailored to meet specific channel requirements.

The first PCI Express® x16 Gen2 board class with both HD-resolution outputs and inputs, Mura features four outputs and either four, two, or zero input channels on each board. Mura can be scaled within a single system from just one board to multi-board and large-size installations. Applications of Mura boards include anything from smaller video wall controllers used for corporate presentation purposes to large-scale collaborative control room environments. The 2.01 driver now enables maximum configurations of:

  • 14 MPX-4/4 four-output/four-input boards with 2 MPX-V16s (56 outputs and 32 analog SD captures),
  • 14 MPX-4/4 with 1 two-output MPX-SDI and 1 MPX-V16 (58 outputs and 34 analog SD captures), or
  • 10 MPX-4/4 with 6 MPX-V16s (40 outputs and 96 analog SD captures).

“Mura’s exceptional scalability is now poised to offer AV integrators even greater flexibility when designing and deploying their next Matrox-powered video wall solution,” said Helgi Sigurdsson, Product Manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. “We are excited to release this new driver so that users can now take further advantage of all that Mura has to offer.”

In regard to collaborative systems, with the new 2.01 driver AV integrators will be able to leverage Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition and TripleHead2Go Digital Edition external multi-display adapters alongside Mura, enabling on-screen content of individual operators/dispatchers/engineers’ multi-display desktops to be cloned onto a video wall as well as expanding the number of available outputs for high-resolution video captures up to 2560×1600. New High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliance also permits AV professionals to use up to six Mura cards to capture and display copy-protected content from digital cable or satellite set-top boxes, video streamers, and Blu-ray Disc™ players. Certain conditions may apply.

Furthermore, the popular MuraControl for iPad app, which provides users with a remote and convenient means to manipulate inputs on their video walls, will also offer enhanced functionalities with the driver release. Compatible with iOS 5, the latest version of the native iPad app features new layout management capabilities – including the option to control the order of overlapping windows on a given video wall and improved loading times – enabled by the new driver.
