Molex Presents Global Distributor of the Year Award to Avnet Electronics Marketing

Molex Incorporated today announced that it has awarded the 2011 Global Distributor of the Year award to Avnet Electronics Marketing, a leading global distributor of electronic parts and embedded subsystems. Avnet Electronics Marketing is an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT – News), The Phoenix, Arizona-based firm accepted the award at a meeting in Phoenix. The Molex Global Distributor of the Year award recognizes valued partners demonstrating financial, operational and executive management excellence. 

“We are proud to recognize Avnet’s significant contribution to our global distribution results in 2011,” stated Graham Brock, president, sales and marketing division, Molex. “This award represents the commitment demonstrated by the Avnet teams in Asia, Europe and the Americas and the contribution that it made to significant revenue growth for both our companies. We have worked very hard to be a major supplier of interconnection products to Avnet for 29 years. We value our partnership with Avnet and look forward to continued expansion of our global relationship.”

The Avnet team achieved this recognition by growing POS revenue by more than 30% from the previous year. Avnet achieved the highest score on operations metrics and had the largest percent growth of lines stocked. Avnet further expanded the Molex global reach by promoting and stocking all of the new products introduced in FY11.

Distributors were evaluated based on criteria in three categories, including:

  • Financial: Year over year sales growth
  • Operational: Inventory management, new product support, order coverage, among other factors.
  • Management: Accessibility to management team, training program support, feedback on pricing strategy, etc.

The Global Distributor award follows Molex’s mid-2011 presentation of Regional Distributor of the Year awards to four leading distributors in Asia/Pacific (TTI), Europe (TTI, MT Systems), and the U.S. (Heiland).
