Meggitt Sensing Systems Introduces Endevco® Radiation Hardened Accelerometers Operating to +399°C

January 26, 2012, San Juan Capistrano, California, USA – Meggitt Sensing Systems, a Meggitt group division, has introduced the Endevco® model 2273A series, a family of radiation hardened piezoelectric accelerometers for vibration measurements within nuclear and power generation environments.

Offered with a high sensitivity of 10 pC/g, even with its high-temperature operation, the Endevco® model 2273A series is available in both top (model 2273AM20) and side connector (model 2273AM1) versions. Both are radiation hardened for exposures to gamma flux up to 6.2 x 1010 and integrated neutron flux up to 3.7 x 1018 N/cm2.  The accelerometers incorporate the use of Meggitt’s own proprietary crystals in its patented Isobase® construction, providing for flat temperature response over a range of -184°C to +399°C (-300°F to +750°F), and reliable operation at frequencies of up to 6000 Hz. Sensing elements are housed in a rugged stainless steel package, which is hermetically sealed for use in demanding environments. This unique construction further allows for mechanical isolation of bending motion from the mounting base and low base strain sensitivity, for a transducer series that can continue to reliably operate within extreme environments with up to 10,000 g pk shock survivability.

Sensors are supplied with the Endevco® model 3075M6-120, a 10-32 to 10-32 high-temperature hardline cable assembly with fiberglass jacket; a 10-32 mounting stud; and an installation wrench. Optional accessories, sold separately, include the Endevco® model 3090C-XXX low-noise Teflon® jacketed coaxial cable, for use in temperatures up to +260°C (+500°F); the Endevco® model 2981-4 10-32 to M5 mounting stud;  the model 133 three-channel piezoelectric signal conditioner; or the model 2771C-XX remote charge converter. With its design and performance attributes, the series is ideal for a variety of extreme high-temperature, nuclear and power generation applications, including loose parts monitoring in power plants (nuclear & non-nuclear); and vibration monitoring of pipes, fans, turbines, and other structures within these types of environments.

All Endevco® accelerometers are accompanied by a comprehensive five-year product warranty. In addition, this series is available at specially discounted rates as part of the –R replacement sensors program, with quantities of the model 2273AM20 also available for immediate customer shipment as part of Meggitt’s Endevco® Guaranteed In Stock program.
