Eurotech Awarded 1.5M USD Contract to Supply Embedded Computers for Medical Application

COLUMBIA, Md., Aug. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Eurotech, a leading supplier of embedded technologies, products, and systems, today announces they have been selected to supply embedded computers to a medical original equipment manufacturer (OEM) that specializes in diagnostics solutions.  The value of the six-month contract is about 1.5M USD.

The Eurotech Sphere II will allow the customer to meet market demand and extend the lifecycle of chemistry analyzers using ARM technology.  Used to test for diseases in just minutes, these products connect to a laboratory information management system that collects all results into an electronic medical record.

The Sphere II is a full-featured single board computer with robust I/O, storage, and versatility features. Based on the Cirrus® EP9315™ ARM9 RISC-based processor, Sphere II provides the forum for a powerful system with low power consumption. It features rich graphics to XGA with comprehensive on-board I/O including three serial ports, Ethernet 10/100baseT, USB host and an AC97 stereo codec, all in a small form factor that can operate without fans or heatsinks.

“Medical OEMS can extend their product lifecycle by taking advantage of our state-of-art platforms,” said Greg Nicoloso, Chief Executive Officer of Eurotech Inc. “Eurotech offers embedded computers pre-installed with software layers that makes them application-ready platforms, allowing customers to reduce time-to-market.”
