Avnet Electronics Marketing Launches “Dog Days of Summer” Video Contest

PHOENIX— August 1, 2011 — With a record-breaking heat wave plaguing most of the United States, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT) announced today another reason to beat the heat and stay indoors – its “Dog Days of Summer” video contest. Running now through August 31, 2011, design engineers and hobbyists alike can win an iPad2 by uploading a video of creations they have designed using products available on Avnet’s line card. And with more than five million SKUs available to choose from, this contest should be a breeze. For official rules and details visit www.em.avnet.com/DogDaysofSummer.

To enter, contestants must upload a video of their design to the Avnet Electronics Marketing YouTube page by posting a response. Videos will be judged on originality, creativity, number of “thumbs up”; and fit to contest theme. Four contestants will each win an iPad2; with a winning video selected for designs that fit into the following four themes:

  • Solar
  • Communications
  • Transportation
  • Entertainment
