Digi-Key Corporation Announces Stock of the Arduino Prototyping Platform

Friday, May 27, 2011 – THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA– Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, recognized by design engineers as having the industry’s broadest selection of electronic components available for immediate shipment, now stocks the Arduino advanced prototyping platform and accessories.

Arduino is a tool for computer development that can sense and control more of the physical world than a standard computer. The device is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple microcontroller board and a development environment for writing software for the board.

Arduino features a microcontroller that is programmed using the Arduino programming language (based on wiring) and the Arduino development environment (based on processing). Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software running on a computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP).

“We are excited to announce the addition of Arduino’s innovative development platform. With Arduino’s wide range of support through online communities and forums, developers gain access to an integrated hardware and software solution for rapid design and prototype creation,” said Mark Zack, vice president of semiconductor product, Digi-Key Corporation.

The Arduino platform and related products are available for purchase now on Digi-Key’s global websites.

Digi-Key Corporation focuses on providing customers with superior service, which includes product selection and availability, on-time delivery, and responsiveness. Using leading-edge processes and state-of-the-art technologies, Digi-Key serves a global customer base from its 600,000 square foot facility in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA.
