New Crucial 16GB Very Low Profile Server Modules Help Reduce Power Consumption and Cooling Costs

Boise, ID, and Glasgow, UK, 24 May, 2011 – Crucial, a leading global brand of memory and storage upgrades, today introduced Crucial 16GB DDR3-1066MHz Very Low Profile (VLP) RDIMM memory modules, commonly used in blade servers and to run memory intensive applications such as server virtualisation. With a PCB height of only 18.75mm, the VLP form factor is designed to reduce the space taken by memory and allow for greater airflow through the body of the server, assisting in the reduction of thermal power consumption and ultimately contributing to reduced cooling costs. Additionally, the new 16GB density enables data centre managers to increase total memory density per server and improve overall system performance.

Crucial 16GB DDR3-1066MHz VLP RDIMM memory modules are halogen-free and RoHS compliant. The VLP RDIMM modules are also available in 4GB or 8GB densities, as well as kits ranging from 8GB to 64GB. For additional information on how to purchase VLP RDIMM server memory, contact Crucial memory providers, or visit www.crucial.com/uk/server for details and qualifications.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to support high-end server performance, Crucial VLP RDIMM memory was designed with data centre computing in mind, utilising less board space than standard memory modules while optimising the total installed memory density,” said Michael Moreland, worldwide product manager for Crucial DRAM.

VLP RDIMM server modules are covered by the Crucial Reliance Server Program and include a limited-lifetime warranty and dedicated toll-free support, with additional program benefits such as on-site spares, cross-shipment for speedy exchange of warranty replacements, and bulk shipping options.
