Linux Professional Institute Expands Training Partner Program to Over 300 Organizations Worldwide

(Sacramento, USA: December 13, 2010) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world’s premier Linux certification organization (http://www.lpi.org), announced that in 2010 they grew their training partner program to include 303 participating organizations–up nearly 10% from this time last year. In addition, LPI added partners in 11 additional countries in 2010: LPI now has training partners in 55 countries around the world.

Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI, noted that in addition to the continuing participation of private training companies in LPI’s training partner program there was significant momentum amongst academic organizations over the last two years: “This growth within the academic community is indicative of both our outreach efforts and their recognition of the value added of both Open Source Software and our certification program in preparing their students for a career in IT.” Mr. Lacey also noted that government and industry-related accreditation programs for vocational training were also driving this academic trend and cited related announcements over the last year in the UK, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia.

Other notable milestones in LPI’s training partner program in 2010 include the following:
