IAR Systems to Showcase Power Debugging Tools for ARM at ESC Boston

September 8, 2010 – Foster City, CA – IAR Systems® today announced its participation at the Embedded Systems Conference in Boston, Booth 514, from Sept. 20-23, 2010. IAR Systems will demonstrate its power debugging technology within IAR Embedded Workbench® for ARM®/Cortex™ intended to aid the development of low power embedded applications. The demonstration of IAR Embedded Workbench will feature analysis of the software’s influence on power consumption and provide developers with the means to optimize source code to minimize power consumption.

Power measurements can be visualized in various ways in IAR Embedded Workbench. In its simplest form a power log window displays the measured current and the time and location of the program counter when it was sampled.

The power profiling is done at a function level, letting the developer know how much power is consumed during the execution of each function, and what the average current is during its execution.

Cypress Offers CapSense® and TrueTouch™ Controllers In Industry’s Smallest Packages

SAN JOSE, Calif., September 7, 2010 – Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY), the market leader in touch-sensing, today announced that both its CapSense® capacitive touch controllers and TrueTouch™ touchscreen controllers are now available in tiny Wafer-Level Chip-Scale Packages (WLCSPs). These ultra-small packages enable manufacturers of personal media players, mobile handsets, PC peripherals (printers & mice), and other consumer electronic products to offer end products that are smaller and more attractive to consumers. A photo of the devices is available at www.cypress.com/go/wlcsp_photo.com.

The CapSense CY8C207x6A-24FDXC devices are offered in 30-ball packages that measure only 2.2 x 2.3 x 0.4mm. They offer very low power operation (down to 1.7V) and run-time current consumption for long battery life, along with industry-leading noise immunity and touch sensitivity for up to 25 buttons.  The new CapSense controllers also offer Cypress’s SmartSense™ technology that automatically detects and adjusts for changes in input variables, allowing easier design and manufacturing, along with better performance in the field.

The TrueTouch CY8CTMA300E controller family is offered in a 49-ball, 3.2 x 3.2 x 0.55 mm package. It offers an integrated analog sensing engine for the industry’s fastest and most accurate touchscreen user experience. This responsiveness allows tracking of multiple fingers simultaneously with precise x-y locations and without user delays or problems with erroneous “ghost” responses. The devices also offer Cypress’s legendary noise immunity, very low power consumption and advanced features such as stylus support, hover detection and water rejection.

“As we have done since the beginning of the touch revolution, Cypress is taking the lead in enabling differentiated end-products — in this case small form-factor systems that are in high demand by today’s consumer,” said Norm Taffe, executive vice president of Cypress’s Consumer and Computation Division. “With each new innovation, we’re extending our leadership in touch sensing, and we anticipate that trend to continue in the future.”

About CapSense

Cypress’s CapSense touch-sensing solutions have replaced 3.5 billion mechanical buttons in mobile handsets, laptops, consumer electronics, white goods, automotive applications, and virtually any system that has a mechanical button or switch, making Cypress the industry touch-sensing leader. The CapSense portfolio, the industry’s broadest and most integrated, enhances industrial design and reliability with the most noise-immune and water tolerant capacitive touch-sensing interfaces, including proximity sensing where direct touch is not required. CapSense proximity sensing provides power savings by activating an interface only when needed while further enhancing industrial designs by only exposing interfaces when necessary. The portfolio ranges from the fixed-function CapSense Express controllers that streamline the transition to a robust touch-sensing interface, to the sophisticated CapSense Plus™ controllers based on the PSoC programmable system-on-chip architecture that can integrate a wide variety of Analog and Digital system blocks to reduce total chip count and system BOM cost. About TrueTouch

Cypress’s TrueTouch family includes single-touch, multitouch and multitouch all-point offerings. Cypress was the first company to introduce multitouch all-point functionality, which can track an unlimited number of touches. This capability enables designers to create new usage models for products such as mobile handsets, portable media players (PMPs), GPS systems and other products, and has been in mass production since 2008. TrueTouch is the industry’s most flexible touchscreen solution, as the unique PSoC architecture allows designers to implement differentiated features and make last-minute design iterations without board changes.

The next-generation high performance TMA300 multi-touch all-point family provides best-in-class scan times for true multifinger touch and superior signal-to-noise ratio for the most demanding touchscreen applications. Additional information about the TrueTouch solution is available at www.cypress.com/go/TrueTouch.
