Intel® Connected Services Gateway Reference Design

Consumers and small businesses have access to a broad array of IP-based services, from Web services TV programming and video offerings to telephony, energy management and security monitoring. And many more media choices and services and are on the way.

For non-technical end users consumers and small businesses, managing this often complex array of media and communications services can be a challenge. Households can benefit from a simple single access point to control the range of services, and small businesses can use a single-box Plug and Play solution to access, manage and store their various media and communications services and applications.

This Intel product brief describes the connected services gateway reference design, a broadband-enabled wireless device that can help minimize development cost and time to market. The reference design provides equipment manufacturers and service providers with a validated platform that acts as a gateway, server, router and storage device, all in a single box. The gateway enables users to access, monitor and control almost any service with Plug and Play simplicity. The integrated capabilities of the device, coupled with its ease of use, will increase the potential market for entertainment, security, e-health, social networking and digital media.

The reference design is available through a royalty-free license from Intel. It includes the Intel Atom processor, in a fan-less operating system neutral platform that supports leading network interfaces and provides integrated graphics. The reference design includes a software stack with components for TR-069 remote management, parental control, firewall functionality, advanced networking, network attached storage and telephony.
