Drigmorn4 Low Power, High Performance, FPGA Embedded Processing Platform

The Drigmorn4 is based around at Xilinx™ Spartan™-6 FPGA family. Utilising the low power features of this FPGA family the Drigmorn4 board is capable of offering an embedded processing solution than can operate from as little as a 5V 1W power supply. Drigmorn4 will also be offered with a battery pack option allowing remote location operation on either batteries alone or in conjunction with a small solar panel, wind or ultra-micro hydro generator. The battery pack also doubles up as a simple UPS feature for systems where it is critical that a Drigmorn4 remains operational despite main power supply interruption.

Compact and lightweight Drigmorn4 offers a solution where both of these parameters are important. Measuring just 72(w) x 135(l) x 20(h)mm (2.82 x 5.32 x 0.8 inches) and weighing less than 100g (3.5oz) this product fits and goes where competing products struggle to. The board has mounting holes allowing a robust attachment to equipment panels or equipment chassis.

Drigmorn4 comes with standard hardware features including a Xilinx™ Spartan™-6 LX45-LX150 FPGA, DDR3 memory, Flash memory, 10/100T Ethernet interface, 2 x PS2 interfaces, Real Time Clock, 2 x 16 LCD, USB interface, DIL Switches, Push Switches, LEDs, and 60 I/O for further expansion. Enterpoint can also offer customisation of this product’s hardware to meet specific OEM customer requirements.

‘The combination of low power and enormous logic capability of the Xilinx™ Spartan™-6 FPGA family has allowed us to build a high performance processing solution that can run on batteries or long term from solar, wind, or even ultra-micro hydro power solutions without maintenance. The flexibility of the user I/O available allows either our standard, or customer specific, modules to enhance the features of the board to meet exacting customer requirements in a small package at a reasonable cost.’ says John Adair CEO of Enterpoint.

The Drigmorn4 is shipping in prototyping quantities now and will be available in production quantities from September.

Want early design analysis without simulation?

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Traditional verification methods are failing today's complex IC designs, which require a proactive, early-stage analysis approach. A shift-left methodology addresses IP block integration challenges and the limitations of traditional simulation and ERC tools. Insight Analyzer detects hard-to-find leakage issues across power domains, enabling early analysis without full simulation. Identify inefficiencies earlier to reduce rework, improve reliability, and enhance power performance.

GaN for Humanoid Robots
Sponsored by Mouser Electronics and Infineon
In this episode of Chalk Talk, Eric Persson and Amelia Dalton explore why power is the key driver for efficient and reliable robot movements and how GaN technologies can help motor control solutions be more compact, integrated and efficient. They also investigate the role of field-oriented control in humanoid robotic applications and why the choice of a GaN power transistor can make all the difference in your next humanoid robot project!
