Magma Talus-Based RTL-to-GDSII Reference Flow for MIPS® Processor IP Delivers Repeatable Results, Speeds Deployment

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 14, 2010 — Magma® Design Automation (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced availability of a validated Talus®-based RTL-to-GDSII reference flow for system-on-chip (SoC) designs that incorporate high-performance embedded microprocessor cores from MIPS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIPS), including the MIPS32® 1004K™74K®34K® and 24K® families. With this reference flow and the MIPS® IP, mutual customers can achieve repeatable results and speed deployment of advanced SoCs.

Based on Talus 1.1, the latest release of Magma’s IC implementation system, the flow leverages the Talus Design synthesis tool’s enhanced clock tree synthesis and the Talus COre™ technology which performs timing optimization concurrently during routing. These advanced capabilities allow designers to achieve timing closure faster. In addition, synthesis results using these reference flows for Talus 1.1 show performance improvements of as much as seven percent when compared to results using Talus 1.0.

“With today’s tight time-to-market requirements, design teams don’t have time to set up and validate design flows,” said Art Swift, vice president of marketing, MIPS Technologies.  “We’re seeing increasing traction in the market for MIPS’ highest performance processor cores. Using the Talus-based reference flow with these cores, MIPS’ and Magma’s mutual customers can accelerate design and delivery of innovative SoC devices to meet the ever increasing challenges of today’s advanced applications for digital home, networking, mobile devices and beyond.”

“Successful SoC implementation is dependent on having reliable IP and a proven flow,” said Premal Buch, general manager of Magma’s Design Implementation Business Unit.  “By incorporating advanced capabilities into Talus 1.1, such as early clock tree modeling, advanced crosstalk optimization, concurrent optimization during routing and providing reference flows, Magma is equipping designers with the technology they need for silicon success.”

The reference flow is available now from Magma.  Magma will demonstrate its entire line of chip design software in Booth #602 at the 47th Design Automation Conference (DAC) June 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.  For information about Magma’s activities at DAC, visit www.magma-da.com/DAC2010.

Kistler USA Announces Recent Enhancements to Three-Component Triaxial Force Link Product Offerings

Kistler Instrument Corporation (www.kistler.com), a worldwide supplier of precision sensors, systems and instrumentation for the dynamic measurement of pressure, force, torque and acceleration, has announced recent enhancements to its industry best-selling three-component triaxial force link product range, to include expanded measurement capabilities from ±1.8k to ±33.7k lbf and other design enhancements for greater measurement flexibility and performance.

Kistler three-component dynamic force links are compact, fully calibrated and preloaded for reliable high-precision dynamic force measurements in three orthogonal directions, in both tension and compression modes, across a variety of applications, regardless of the acting point of the force, with a large useable frequency range. All dynamic sensing elements are housed in a rust-free, sealed stainless steel housing.

General product line improvements to all Kistler three-component triaxial force link models include improved resolution and an expanded operating temperature range of -40 to +248°F, reduced hysteresis, an optional IP67 rated environmental sealing and plug connection via highly robust V3 multi-pole connector, which replaces the legacy three 10-32 neg. connection. The newer versions are drop-in replacements for legacy models, and use the same cable type as those with Types 93x7C already introduced. Specific enhancements to the Kistler Type 9327C triaxial quartz force link include a more rigid construction and expanded measurement range of ±0.8k lbf across the x and y axes (previously ±0.6k lbf) ±1.8k lbf across the z-axis (previously ±1.1k lbf).

Typical applications for Kistler triaxial force links include cutting force measurements within metal cutting processes; crash test collision forces; rocket motor recoil forces; vibrating table and friction forces; biomechanical ground reaction forces and feedback studies, road and test bed vehicle force; and wind tunnel balance applications. For additional details, drawings and specifications, please contact Kistler Instrument Corporation toll-free (in the US & Canada) at 1-888-KISTLER, via email at sales.us@kistler.com by visiting www.kistler.com.
