Konica Minolta Adopts EVE’s ZeBu Emulation Platform to Dramatically Accelerate Validation of Image Processing LSI Designs

SAN JOSE, CALIF. –– March 31, 2010 –– EVE, the leader in hardware/software co-verification, today announced Konica Minolta Technology Center, Inc., of Tokyo, Japan, has selected its ZeBu (for Zero Bugs) hardware-assisted verification platform for the design of its high-speed, high-performance large-scale integrated circuits (LSIs) used in image processing.

ZeBu was chosen after an evaluation of cost-effective, commercially available emulation platforms that could accelerate simulation of Konica Minolta’s iImage Processing LSI designs.

“We have been delighted to discover that ZeBu cut four days of RTL simulation to one and half hours in co-emulation driven by the very same Verilog test benches, practically accelerating simulation by 80 times.” says Takashi Kawabe, engineer of Architecture R&D Division, System Solution Technology R&D Laboratories at Konica Minolta Technology Center, Inc.  “In a couple of months, ZeBu found several hard-to-find bugs that simulation would not have been able to pinpoint in any practical amount of time.  We also valued EVE team’s effective and knowledgeable support that permitted us to keep on schedule.”

“We are delighted to be chosen by Konica Minolta and are appreciative of its diligence in conducting the evaluation,” remarks Dr. Luc Burgun, EVE’s chief executive officer and president.  “We are confident that, by virtue of its fast execution, ZeBu will significantly accelerate the debugging of Konica Minolta’s designs and ultimately speed time to market of its new designs.”

Curtiss-Wright Controls Announces Highly Secure OpenVPX™ Ethernet Switch Card

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – March 30, 2010 — Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing, a business group of Curtiss-Wright Controls and a leading designer and manufacturer of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) VME, VPX, OpenVPX™, and CompactPCI® products for the rugged deployed aerospace and defense (A&D) market, has announced the availability of the new VPX3-685 Secure FireBlade, a fully-featured Layer2/3 managed Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) router that features a highly integrated security sub-system. The VPX3-685, is a rugged OpenVPX®-compliant 3U VPX card. It speeds and simplifies the integration of secure GbE switching and routing into embedded systems designed for harsh environment military applications. Targetting highly secure IPv4/v6 Intra-Platform Networks (IPNs), the VPX3-685 is designed to prevent unauthorized access to critical information for applications deployed in air, land, and sea vehicles. It can be used to secure a data storage network, or protect mission critical applications from hostile attacks in the forms of viruses, IP Spoofing, Denial of Service (DoS), and Trojan Horses.

“Our VPX3-685 Secure FireBlade Ethernet switch card delivers an unprecedented level of performance and security to enable secure network-centric connectivity,” said Lynn Patterson, vice president and general manager of Modular Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. “This advanced board addresses our customers’ growing need for secure network communications where Information Assurance is critical”.

The VPX3-685 provides unmatched perimeter defense for critical data at the edge of the network battlefield. The board incorporates Enhanced Security Software and a high-performance hardware-based security engine.  Comprising a single card Unified Threat Management (UTM) system, the board’s advanced security and network features include:

  • Support for VLANs and VPN (IPSec/PPTP/L2TP) to protect dedicated networks
  • An ICSA certified statefull firewall to protect against multiple evasive attacks
  • Network Address Translation (NAT) routing for IPv4 masquerading
  • Port and protocol-based Access Control Lists (ACL) to prevent unauthorized access
  • Broadcast Storm Control to protect against network disruption due to packet flooding
  • IPv6 with IPSec tunneling for secure communications channels
  • Advanced standards-based cryptographic functions (encryption, decryption, and authentication).

The VPX3-685 can be configured with up to 16 GbE interfaces. It also provides up to four (4) 10GbE ports (2 front, 2 rear) to support switch-to-switch expansion, dual-redundant networks (fail-over), or for architecting high-performance 10Gb/s network backbones. Embedded backplane routing is supported with standard Base-T GbE and 10GbE XAUI interfaces. To reduce power requirements, any unused GbE ports can be disabled. A Rear Transition Module (RTM) that provides separate connections for all interfaces is also available for use in lab and development environments.
