Fujitsu selects IAR Systems to provide a development toolchain for the ‘Jade-L Starterkit’

Embedded World, March 2nd 2010, Nuremberg – IAR Systems today announced that their integrated development environment IAR Embedded WorkbenchŽ has been selected as a part of Fujitsu’s SK-86R03 ‘Jade-L Starterkit’ package.

The MB86R03 ‘Jade-L’ SoC device incorporates a powerful 32-bit ARM926EJ-S(TM) CPU core as well as Fujitsu’s ‘Coral PA’ graphics processor. Based on Fujitsu’s proprietary 90nm CMOS process technology, MB86R03 ‘Jade-L’ is optimised for applications requiring high CPU performance combined with sophisticated 2D/3D graphics features.

The SK-86R03 ‘Jade-L Starterkit’ provides a convenient way to design and test target applications. To simplify the application development process, Fujitsu has included the evaluation edition of the IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM that includes header files, a flash loader and example projects for the Jade device family.

“We are pleased to be able to commit to this cooperation with IAR Systems. Now that IAR Systems widespread and popular IAR Embedded Workbench is available for MB86R03 ‘Jade L’, we expect a huge benefit for all involved and are convinced that its usage will greatly simplify the development of embedded applications.”, said Markus Mierse, Director of Fuitsu’s Graphic Competence Center in Munich, “We are excited about Fujitsu’s new development kit”, commented Fredrik Medin, Marketing Director, IAR Systems. “With a compelling price and by including IAR Embedded Workbench (Evaluation Edition), which makes it very easy to get started, Fujitsu’s brand new Starterkit will be very attractive for the embedded market”.

IAR Embedded Workbench is a set of highly sophisticated and easy-to-use development tools. It incorporates the IAR C/C++ Compiler for ARM, an Assembler, a Linker, Librarian, Text Editor, Project Manager and Debugger, all combined in a single integrated development environment (IDE) for programming embedded applications.

IAR Embedded Workbench is developed to deliver high-performance compiled code. The chip-specific code optimizer generates very efficient and reliable flashable code for ARM devices. The toolset is well known and has a high level of acceptance in the industry due to its efficient code generation characteristics.
