aicas presents JamaicaVM 6 – the first embedded real-time Java VM supporting Java 6 Standard Edition

aicas presents the latest version of the leading embedded Java solution JamaicaVM. JamaicaVM 6 is the only Java VM for real-time applications to support the Java 6 language and standard APIs. It will enable you to develop portable applications based on the latest Java 6 standard and get the best performance for your embedded system. The unique real-time garbage collector of JamaicaVM will bring safety, determinism and hard real-time performance to your system.

JamaicaVM 6 comes with improved graphics performance and an extended number of supported platforms. JamaicaVM 6 now supports graphics on QNX and Linux platforms, both with and without X-Server. In total, 14 embedded operating Systems are supported. Soft real-time behaviour on Linux and Windows was improved.

“With JamaicaVM 6, our customers reach a new dimension of productivity”, emphasises Andy Walter, Chief Operations Officer at aicas. “Hard real-time, soft real-time, portable devices and graphic-rich applications can all be developed using JamaicaVM 6. Our development tools help optimising applications for speed and low memory footprint. With JamaicaVM 6, Java applications can be ported from Desktop to Embedded Systems with no change.”

JamaicaVM, aicas’ flagship product, is a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that provides performance guarantees for all primitive Java operations, thus satisfying the main requirement for hard real-time performance. It also eliminates memory leaks and fragmentation, which are the cause of many serious bugs in embedded applications. JamaicaVM is the ideal JVM to select for your projects, when your applications require:

  1. Low latency for seamless graphical, industrial or financial applications and microsecond re action time to Hard Real-Time events,
  2. Generation of compact code and limited use of memory resources for embedded electronics,
  3. Support for the highest level security standards to allow certification of your equipment, e.g., conforming to DO-178B,
  4. Scalability, the ability to manage a large number of tasks in parallel while granting deterministic behaviour to every task,
  5. Access to the large set of Java classes and APIs for real-time and non-real-time programming provided by the RTSJ and J2SE Java standards.

To get a first hand impression of JamaicaVM 6 , aicas offers a free evaluation version to interested parties. Please visit our booth at the Embedded World Exhibition & Conference in Nuremberg, Avionics Event in Amsterdam, or RTS Embedded Systems in Paris for a live demo of the new Software!

Quickly and accurately identify inter-domain leakage issues in IC designs

Sponsored by Siemens Digital Industries Software

Power domain leakage is a major IC reliability issue, often missed by traditional tools. This white paper describes challenges of identifying leakage, types of false results, and presents Siemens EDA’s Insight Analyzer. The tool proactively finds true leakage paths, filters out false positives, and helps circuit designers quickly fix risks—enabling more robust, reliable chip designs. With detailed, context-aware analysis, designers save time and improve silicon quality.
