About the SVME/DMV-184

Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing’s SVME/DMV-184 combines the performance and the advanced I/O capabilities of the Freescale 8640 processor with an extensive I/O complement to provide a highly capable processing platform for a wide range of embedded military/aerospace applications. The SBC’s 8640 processor provides data bandwidth to and from memory via dual 64-bit DDR2 memory controllers and to the PCIe/PCI hierarchy through two independent 8-lane PCIe ports. Along with one high-performance PMC site, there is one XMC-capable mezzanine site with an 8-lane PCIe port allowing for multi-GB/sec data rates between the XMC site and on-board memory. A rich I/O complement including three Gigabit Ethernet ports and options for multi-function RS-232/422/485 serial ports, MIL-STD-1553, SCSI, Serial ATA, TTL and differential discretes provides un-paralleled connectivity with other system elements reserving PMC/XMC sites for application specific requirements.

In addition to the INTEGRITY BSP, the SVME/DMV-184 is also supported by Curtiss-Wright Control’s standard CSA firmware. For other operating system requirements, please contact your local Curtiss-Wright Controls representative.

  • Dual e600 cores at up to 1.25GHz
  • 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM controlled by dual 64-bit controllers
  • Full complement of I/O capability (Including Ethernet, SCSI, serial, USB 2.0,1553, Serial ATA, TTL and differential discretes.) including front panel Gigabit Ethernet connection
  • 2eSST-capable VME interface
  • Continuum Software Architecture (CSA) firmware providing a comprehensive suite of system debug, exerciser, and update functions, BIT, and non-volatile memory sanitization function
  • Designed for embedded and embedded military harsh-environment applications, both air- and conduction-cooled
  • Latest VME version of Curtiss-Wright Controls’ popular 17x and 18x series of single board computers

About the VPX6-185

Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing’s VPX6-185 was the first VPX SBC to combine the performance and the advanced I/O capabilities of the Freescale 8640 processor with an extensive I/O complement to provide a highly capable processing platform for a wide range of embedded and embedded military/aerospace applications. The SBC’s 8640 processor provides data bandwidth to and from memory via dual 64-bit DDR2 memory controllers and to the PCIe/PCI hierarchy through two independent 8-lane PCIe ports. Along with two high-performance PMC sites, there are also two XMC-capable mezzanine sites with 4 or 8-lane PCIe ports allowing for multi-GB/sec data rates between the XMC site and on-board memory. The 185 offers both SRIO and PCIe backplane fabrics for inter-board communications and carrier card interface, as well as VME interface for communication to and control of VME legacy cards. A rich I/O complement including up to 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and options for multi-function RS-232/422/485 serial ports, MIL-STD-1553, Serial ATA, TTL and differential discretes provides connectivity with other system elements reserving PMC/XMC sites for application specific requirements.

In addition to the INTEGRITY BSP, the VPX6-185 is also supported by Curtiss-Wright Control’s standard CSA firmware. For other operating system requirements, please inquire with your local Curtiss-Wright Controls representative.

FPGA Market Report gives new insights into the sector

High Tech Marketing, UK, announces a report on the FPGA market written for anyone who needs to understand the market, competitive pressures and pricing strategies. This includes engineering management and procurement people in companies who buy FPGAs.

The report includes comparisons of every vendor, their strategies and an overview of their leading products and application areas.

A unique section shows how FPGA companies build up their price list. From this follows a section, illustrated with examples, suggesting ways for FPGA customers to minimise their costs. Not every customer may be able to reduce costs, of course, but the report shows that 30% or more can be saved in many cases.

In addition, a separate comparison file lists major features of every FPGA type available. Any customer planning a new design can identify in seconds all the matching products from every vendor. Requirements like logic capacity, memory, I/O and transceivers are filtered electronically to create a sort-list of potential matches; saving users the need to search through every vendor datasheet.

Licenses for the report are aggressively priced, starting at only $1500.
