Atmel Certifies Avnet Electronics Marketing as Industry’s First Distributor of VaultIC™ Turnkey Security Modules

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Atmel® Corporation (NASDAQ:ATML) , a leader in touch- and microcontroller-based technologies, and the Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) , today announced their newly signed distribution agreement for Atmel’s full line of VaultIC(TM) turnkey security modules. Avnet will provide secure logistics for these products to customers in the Americas.

Atmel is a leading provider of secure microcontrollers for smart card applications for telecom, banking and government markets. Offering over 25 years of expertise in secure microcontroller designs, Atmel’s products have many of the highest security certifications in the industry including Common Criteria EAL4+/EAL5+, FIPS 140-2, ZKA and EMVCo. Atmel’s VaultIC products can easily bring high security functions to applications such as smart metering, USB token, Femtocells, IP protection, gaming platforms or access controls.

Designed as outstanding security modules, the VaultIC features powerful and hardware-based cryptographic algorithms such as RSA, TDES, AES or Elliptic Curves (ECC), together with tamper-proof and tamper-evident secure data storage. The entire product range is designed to meet the Industry’s highest security certifications (Common Criteria EAL4+ and FIPS140-2 Level 3 as a minimum). The wide choice of interfaces provided by the VaultIC (USB, I2C compatible/TWI, SPI, GPIOs, ISO7816 for smartcard applications) makes the physical integration in any existing system fast and easy.
