Matrox Radient eCL high-performance Camera Link® frame grabber now supports Altera® Stratix® IV processing FPGA

More FPGA resources and higher clock rate bring better performance to imaging applications

November 3, 2009, Stuttgart, Germany — At Vision 2009, Matrox Imaging is pleased to announce the Matrox Radient eCL Camera Link® frame grabber now supports the Altera® Stratix® IV processing FPGAs.

“With its 820K logic elements (LEs) the Stratix® IV brings the processing capabilities of the Matrox Radient eCL to a new level,” explains Pierantonio Boriero, Product Line Manager, Matrox Imaging. “More processing elements enable a greater amount of processing parallelism. When greater parallelism is coupled with the higher clock rates of the Stratix® IV, a higher overall image processing throughput can be achieved. This is ideal for applications with high volumes of data such as electronics manufacturing and inspection, semiconductor wafer manufacturing, and medical imaging.”

FPGA processing is ideal for many standard image processing tasks that can overwhelm the host CPU such as filtering, transforms, flat field correction and dead pixel replacement. With Matrox Imaging’s FPGA-design services, OEMs can also benefit from FPGA-based processing without the high costs of specialized staff and FPGA development tools.

About Matrox Radient eCL
Matrox Radient eCL is the single-board solution for applications that require today’s highest-performing Camera Link® cameras. The x8 PCIe® card ensures that the data from the highest-throughput 10-tap, 85-MHz cameras is transferred to the host CPUs. Its half-length form factor ensures an excellent fit in compact systems. Optimized for multi-camera applications, Matrox Radient eCL supports for up to four Base or up to two Full mode Camera Link® cameras. Matrox Radient supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows® XP/Vista and Linux, and is programmed with the field-proven, hardware-independent Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) or MIL-Lite development toolkits.

Pricing for Matrox Radient eCL starts at $2595 US (OEM quantity 1) and is available now. Matrox Radient eCL with Altera® Stratix® IV support will be available in Q4 2009.
