Valencell Opens New State of the Art Sports Testing Lab to Support the Development and Validation of Highly Accurate, Precise Biometric Wearables

RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Valencell, <http://valencell.com/>  an expert and pioneer in precision biometric data sensor technology, has opened a new, state of the art sports performance lab within its Raleigh headquarters. The new facility has been built to meet the outstanding demand from existing and new licensee partners looking to develop and validate biometric wearable products that offer the most accurate assessment of aerobic fitness levels.

“The introduction of more sophisticated user experiences that demand highly accurate fitness assessments has fueled the demand for PerformTek biometrics, and in turn our labs,” said Chris Eschbach, Ph.D., HFS, CSCS and Valencell’s Exercise Physiologist. “This new lab, located right in our offices, further illustrates our commitment to collaboration with our license partners and desire to provide the best wearable sensor technology in the world, ensuring high-standards of accuracy and overall wearability.”

The lab has doubled in size, with 800 square feet of indoor space with additional access to a running track, and over 100 miles of greenways for outdoor exercises, the new facility is equipped to measure, test and evaluate biometric data including metabolic performance, cardiovascular health, strength, speed, agility and power.

In addition to this facility, Valencell has established strategic collaborations with sports performance labs located at Duke University’s Center for Living, North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC), and Campbell University. These facilities provide additional resources for Valencell license partners to measure the reliability, performance and accuracy of wearable products powered by PerformTek biometrics. These laboratories also work with Valencell’s Biometrics Lab on further research and development with additional metrics and wearable applications, such as gaming, military, and first responder.

Valencell licenses its technology to top brands including Intel, LG, and Jabra, that are looking to expand into the exploding wearable fitness market. Valencell licensees gain access to the testing facilities and the world’s largest R&D-focused team that is exclusively focused on extracting accurate photoplehtymography (PPG) measurements for measuring heart rate variability.

The Valencell PerformTek Biometrics licensing package includes biometric sensor designs, biometric firmware and software, and expert service and support throughout the entire design and manufacturing process. For more information, please visit http://valencell.com/licensing
