Avnet Named Exclusive Global Distributor for Microsemi ACT FPGAs

PHOENIX—April 12, 2016—Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that it has been named the exclusive global distributor for Microsemi Corporation’s ACT 1, ACT 2 and ACT 3 field programmable gate array (FPGA) families. Effective immediately, Avnet will manage quotes and new orders for these products as part of its Technology Life Support program, which provides customers with extended access to discontinued electronic components.

“Microsemi is committed to the longevity of our products and is pleased Avnet has exclusive rights to distribute our ACT 1, ACT 2 and ACT 3 antifuse devices, which have experienced more than two decades of success serving the market with their unique capabilities,” said Andrew Girardi, senior director of business operations at Microsemi. “As we continue to develop industry-leading solutions for customers, our company’s ability to serve the defense, aerospace and industrial markets will be further strengthened by the outstanding service and technical support provided by Avnet.”

ACT FPGAs are designed into applications that require durability, reliability and extended temperature range capabilities, such as radar, missiles, on-ship and airborne navigation, commercial aircraft, drilling and medical imaging machines.

“Avnet recognizes that customer demand for certain technologies can often outlive the manufacturer’s ability to effectively support these devices,” said Lynn Torrel, senior vice president, semiconductor business development, worldwide, Avnet Electronics Marketing. “This program allows Avnet and Microsemi the opportunity to assure our mutual customers a trusted and reliable source for these devices.”
