MediSpec™ Non-Magnetic RF Contacts and Modules Enhance the Quality and Accuracy of MRI and Other Medical Scans and Imaging

LISLE, IL – February 5, 2015 – Molex Incorporated, one of the world’s leading electronic connector companies, has launched a new product family of MediSpec™ Non-magnetic RF (radio frequency) Contacts and Modules as an extension to its existing line ofRF/Microwave interconnect solutions.  The company will showcase the new products at MD&M West, February 10 – 12, Anaheim, CA, booth 1746.

“Molex developed the non-magnetic versions to support the requirements of the medical imaging marketplace,” said Darren Schauer, product manager, Molex.  “In the medical imaging field, interconnects made with ferrous materials can create interference problems that degrade image quality.  Our affordable, high performing, non-ferrous versions actually enhance image quality and granularity, rendering scans and images more readable and accurate.  This provides significant value for manufacturers of MRI and other types of diagnostic imaging equipment.”

The new RF non-magnetic contacts and modules are designed to align with the connector types and performance requirements of major MRI equipment manufacturers – and are offered at a more affordable price point than non-magnetic versions currently offered by boutique vendors.

Molex innovative product offerings designed to address the needs of medical device manufacturers include:

In addition, most other Molex standard configuration RF contacts and modules are available in non-magnetic (i.e., non-ferrous) versions by special order, as are custom configurations and cable assemblies.  Standard products from stock ship in 8 weeks, depending on quantity and configuration.  Custom configurations typically require 8 to 12 weeks to ship.
