Laird Introduces Industry’s Smallest High-Performance Low Profile UHF Vertical Antenna

July 07, 2014– Laird, a global technology company, has launched the patent pending Ultra Phantom low profile vertical antenna product line. The Ultra Phantom is the industry’s smallest high-performance omnidirectional low profile UHF antenna designed for use in government, public safety and industrial/commercial market segments. The low profile design reduces height clearance issues on specialty and heavy duty vehicles with secure mounting hardware that deters antenna vandalism.

Providing superior coverage in challenging terrain, the Ultra Phantom antenna combines rugged, ultra-compact design with engineered high performance. Operating from 380-512 MHz, the Ultra Phantom offers 2.0 – 4.1 dBi maximum gain to boost power output and improve signal reception. The antenna achieves IP67 certification to protect against dust and water exposure ensuring it can operate in the most challenging environments.

“Our customers have asked for a high-performance, extremely rugged, vertical low profile antenna in an ultra-compact form factor and Laird responded with the new Ultra Phantom.” said Monty Rohde, senior vice president at Laird.  “Our commitment to our customers is to deliver smart technology and the patent pending Ultra Phantom is a prime example of Laird’s advanced engineering, product management and field distribution teams meeting and exceeding critical customer needs.”

As an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of antennas for mobile devices and wireless data, Laird possesses end-to-end systems knowledge and employs advanced, proprietary design tools to rapidly bring innovative antenna designs to market. Antenna product offerings consists of Industrial and CommercialTelecomPublic Safety and WLAN antennas. These antennas are ideal for use in the automotive, telematics, asset tracking, consumer electronics, handset and mobile devices industries.

Laird’s Wireless Systems Division designs and supplies a broad range of products, systems and software solutions that enable wireless communications such as “smart” antenna solutions, automotive telematics, M2M, V2V and V2X infrastructure antennas, connectivity products and wireless automation and control solutions. Laird’s Performance Materials Division designs and supplies electromagnetic interference shielding, thermal management solutions and signal integrity products for the smart phone, transportation, IT/telecoms, medical and consumer industries worldwide.
