Black Ops II was the best-selling game of 2012

blackops.jpg

Would you be surprised if we told you that Black Ops II was the best-selling game of 2012? No? We weren’t surprised to hear that fact either. I think we all knew that despite the fact that Black Ops II launched late in the year, it would be the biggest game of 2012. NPD group has recently offered up its details on the top games of 2012 confirming our suspicions.

The company tracks the top 10 retail games sold in the United States for the entire year of 2012. There are a couple caveats to information offered up by NPD on video game sales including the fact that the company doesn’t track software sold with consoles, used game sales, or digital downloads. The numbers represent only retail boxed copies sold in stores around the country.

  1. Clearly UnNetHack, Dwarf Fortress, and PacMan Championship Edition DX (..ish) were not counted; an interesting read, not least to hear that Halo 4 and Just Dance 4 are booking what Outboard Office had not in 2012. Some kind of Redmond Thermodynamics at work keeping the sum of programmer Laziness, Self-hype, Goofery and Work (all Scrum tasks?) Fungibility constant?

Penny Arcade reports that the leading game, CODBOpsII, is indeed a killer app as a Wii U first & third screen, not least at: http://penny-arcade.com/2013/01/07 (Family subject; NSFW site if some yutz can read it aloud at your given W.)

Designing Robust 5G Power Amplifiers for the Real World

Sponsored by Keysight

Simulating 5G power amplifier (PA) designs at the component and system levels with authentic modulation and high-fidelity behavioral models increases predictability, lowers risk, and shrinks schedules. Simulation software enables multi-technology layout and multi-domain analysis, evaluating the impacts of 5G PA design choices while delivering accurate results in a single virtual workspace. This application note delves into how authentic modulation enhances predictability and performance in 5G millimeter-wave systems.
