Telit and Zucchetti Ambrogio Robot Deliver Cutting Edge Technology to Your Lawn

Telit’s end-to-end IoT solution enables an eco-friendly, fully-electric, zero-emissions autonomous lawn mower

London, June 9, 2017 – Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced that Zucchetti Centro Sistemi (ZCS), an Italian multi-business company, is using Telit’s IoT platform, embedded SIMs and GE910-GNSS cloud-ready cellular module in the Ambrogio Robot, an robotic lawn mower. ZCS was founded as a software development company and later extended its activities into robotics, automation and renewable energy.Since 2000, ZCS has been designing, manufacturing and distributing innovative hi-tech robots, by combining information technology, electronics and mechanics expertise and the highest professional standards.

ZCS created the Ambrogio auto mower to improve the quality of lawns and to make life easier, allowing consumers to save time and money while keeping their lawn in perfect condition. The mower cuts grass autonomously and automatically, needing no help or assistance once installed. Ambrogio runs according to programmed intervals, alternates cutting cycles with recharging and can mow an entire lawn without missing an area. The grass clippings fall back into the lawn as a natural fertilizer and results in a greener, lusher eco-friendly lawn using a fully-electric, zero-emission mower.

Ambrogio is a highly intelligent evolved robot with patented sensors, advanced navigation, self-programming to optimize work times, and it varies blade speeds based on the height of the grass. By providing three fundamental building blocks – Platform, Connectivity and Module – Telit enabled the end-to-end communication from the robot to the Ambrogio Connect mobile app, in a faster and more reliable way. Data sent by the Robot is stored in theTelit IoT Platform, a cloud-based IoT subscription service, and is visualized by the mower’s connected app that remotely interacts with the robot in a secure way, leveraging Telit technology. With the app, consumers can manage and control the robot anytime and anywhere.

“We collaborated with Telit on the Ambrogio auto mower because we wanted to create a solution that aligned with our mission to create innovative, efficient and competitive products that are socially and environmentally responsible,” said Fabrizio Bernini, CEO of ZCS, “Telit’s end-to-end IoT solutions will allow us to create new opportunities for our robotics and automation markets.”
“ZCS selected Telit because we made it easy for them to launch, deploy and manage their IoT solution within a short period of time,” said Sammy Yahiaoui, EMEA Vice President of IoT Services Sales. “With our Telit IoT Portal, global SIM cards with custom data plans, and IoT Modules we are able to offer ZCS an industry-grade end-to-end solution that is managed in one service provider portal and is scalable across their entire product portfolio.”
