Precise microstepping Click board from MIKROE suits robotics, medical, antenna positioning, security and more

1000s of example designs with working code available in EmbeddedWiki

April 2024: Power Step 2 Click  is a compact add-on board for precise motion control applications. A new member of the 1800-strong mikroBUS™ -enabled Click board™ family from MIKROE, the embedded solutions company that dramatically cuts development time by providing innovative hardware and software products based on proven standards, Power Step 2 Click is a compact add-on board for precise motion control applications. It is based on the powerSTEP01, a powerful 1/128 microstepping controller from STMicroelectronics, that integrates eight N-channel MOSFETs with ultra-low RDS(on).

Comments Nebojsa Matic, CEO of MIKROE: “This new Click board suits motor control applications in robotics, automation and industrial equipment, medical devices, antenna positioning, CCTV and security systems, dome cameras for pan, tilt, and zoom operations and any application requiring high voltage and high current precise motor control. For thousands of example project designs featuring Power Step 2 Click, visit MIKROE’s EmbeddedWiki resource.”

Power Step 2 Click  board operates at voltages up to 85V, delivering up to 10A RMS output current while supporting both voltage mode driving and advanced current control. It features a high-speed 5MHz SPI interface, multiple safety protections, and additional control pins for enhanced functionality, including step clock input and motor initialization. The board also provides LED indicators for quick status monitoring and supports external clock synchronization.

Power Step 2 Click is fully compatible with the mikroBUS™ socket and can be used on any host system supporting the mikroBUS™ standard. It comes with the mikroSDK open-source libraries, offering unparalleled flexibility for evaluation and customization. This latest Click board also features the ClickID function which simplifies use by enabling the host system to seamlessly and automatically detect and identify this add-on board.
